Raphael Onyango – Data Manager
Q: What inspired you to pursue your area of work?
A: I am inspired by the use of technology and data to deliver life changing interventions to people that need it most. For instance, use of the smartphones to capture information on women’s health by their fellow women (mSaada) and also using smartphone related technology to treat diagnosed cases (Pocket). Without these modest technologies we won’t be able to deliver these life changing interventions to the people who need them most. The data that comes out of these are just wow!
Q: Are there any hobbies or activities that you enjoy outside of work?
A: When I’m not at work, I’m a budding dairy farmer at heart. I love spending time with cows, feeding them, and making sure they’re happy and relaxed. There’s something truly special about the bond between humans and animals, and I believe it’s one of the most honest and genuine relationships we have.
